Recovering a Chair

Turn THIS: Into THIS:

Its E-A-S-Y!!!

Materials Needed:

Fabric- Fabric should be wide enough to wrap all the way around the chair pad and secure to the underside on all sides.

Scissors

Staple Gun- Nothing heavy duty needed. (Thanks again for mine Tiff- best Christmas present ever!)

Step One: Unscrew the chair pad from the base of the chair.
Step Two: Lay your chair pad in the center of your fabric.
Step Three: Pull one side of the fabric around to the underside of your chair pad. Secure with staples. Then do the opposite side and pull tight. Finish the other 2 sides, pulling fabric tight, stapling and trimming excess fabric as needed.

Secure back to the base and you're done!

I added some vinyl to mine too because I am that anal about my kids making messes! Rob says it makes him feel like we are Ray and Marie from Everybody Loves Raymond. Stop laughing, I am bringing vinyl back- its the new trend, started by me.

  1. Hehe,
I saw that Sis. Radford had covered her kitchen chairs in vinyl and her chairs looked great. So I thought I would try it on my two boys chairs. Theirs are the only ones that you can still even recognize the original fabric. You guys are smarties! Next time they all get vinyl or removable slipcovers so I can wash them. Would you ever do white? People say they are the easiest because you can bleach them, but I'm not sold on that idea.

  2. Simply beautiful. I have been wanting to redo my whole house before the holidays but with a modest budget so that means thrift stores and craigslist!! I have always wanted to just change fabric on things but never brave enough.
