My Craft Area

I finished "sprucing up" my craft area for this week's challenge. Here are the pictures:

BEFORE

I had these 2 cupboards full of random craft supplies- no rhyme or reason to how things were put away. A month ago I pulled a lot of it out to "organize it" ... and then I got busy with something else. (You know how that goes, I am sure!) So the cupboards sat nearly bare (unless you count the "stuff" that got shoved back there when I needed a quick place to stash it!)  and all the stuff I pulled out to organize sat here:

all on and around my craft table!!! (This is so embarrassing!) I had good intentions of organizing it, but I had very little time to do so. And because my craft area is in our loft right at the top of our stairs, everytime someone came up stairs this was a perfect dropping point for anything in their arms. (I am not pointing fingers at my family because I did it too!) But because of this, my pile to organize grew every day!

When I finally cracked down and went through it all, I found trash sitting right next to the waste basket, I found dirty laundry, and craft supplies I forgot I even had. I also realized how much ribbon I have! Holy cow, my ribbon addiction is a sickness, really.

So here are the after pictures!!! I am so proud of myself!

My organized cupboards

AND (drum roll please...)

 My craft desk!!!

How much ribbon does a girl need?!?! The container to the left of my desk (as shown in the picture above this one) is also full of spools. I love ribbon, what can I say?!?

And one thing I have been doing for a couple years now is I keep my glue gun plugged in at all times into a serge protector. That way, when I need it, I just flip the switch on the serge protector and my glue gun starts to heat up right away, rather than pulling it out of a drawer and pluggin' it in every time. Look!:
All right there and ready to use!

That was fun! What does your craft area look like???
Leave your link on our challenge list at the bottom of the blog!

  1. Oh, I love it! One of these days, I'll stop doing my random crafts wherever I happen to be in the house. (Our formal dining room we've used for eating maybe twice is now my craft area most of the time.)

  2. I'm jealous (hehe)!! I LOVE your craft desk. And the glue gun idea of always being plugged in is awesome! Maybe one day I will have a craft room...or even, half of a craft room! Thanks for sharing!

  4. How did you attach the spool organizer to your bulletin board? I was thinking about making the drawer version, but it would take up way too much space in m tiny area.

We are still buying supplies and getting it set up so I couldn't do this challenge yet! Boo!

  5. Great job on getting organized. I get ambitious occasionally and get my craft room organized. The only problem is I start crafting and within 3 days it looks like a tornado hit it. Hmmm, maybe I should call Merry Maids to come in once a week and clean up my craft mess, LOL.

  11. Like Emily...I'm using our dining area as my sewing nook. Tried to organized it but with all the project I'm making...it always end up so messy. LOL!

  12. Even though I'm not participating in the 30 day thing, you gave me some incentive to fix my little craft area. I'll have to work on it, but I'll put pictures up when I'm done. How fun.

  15. Okay, you've convinced me that it's time to bite the bullet and clean the craft/clutter room, especially since I've moved my active supplies to another location. Thank goodness my long-suffering dh hasn't said anything yet. Thanks for the inspiration!

  16. Absolutely amazing!

I'm working on getting my craft area into shape...but one of my big problems is dealing with my ribbon. You just gave me a great idea!
