I had the good intention of handmaking each of my cards this year. I used to handmake all our cards every year until about 4 years ago when I discovered how easy it was to photoshop a card. Lately though, everyone has photoshopped cards, so in my quest to be different, I decided this year I would go back to making my own. This is never a quick task, but I do enjoy it and though monotonous at times, I love the satisfaction of a completed card, addressed in an envelope and on its way to family and friends to spread some Christmas cheer!
So while I had creative intentions this year, November and December came and went so fast!!! Before I knew it, my time to create was up! One more year of a somewhat generic card and next year I promise myself to let the creative side come out!
Here is the card I made last week that should be in the mail already, however they are not! (oops.)
And here is how I made them... in case you want to try your hand at it!
First off, for those of you who have not ever tried Scrapblog.com- you must go now and open an account! Its Free, and its FUN! I get so many ideas from scrapblog- most logos, clipart and backgrounds you see on somewhat simple have originated from scrapblog in some way or another!
They have pre-designed templates you can simply click and drop your photos into, or you can start with a blank page and add your own background and stickers.
For this particular card, I used a premade template and changed everything but the picture locations. It took me about an hour to do, but it could've been done in 2 minutes if I didn't change my mind on the colors so many dang times.
When you are done creating, save it, publish it on their site, then export it as a jpeg and save it to your computer. Once saved, you can upload it to any film processing store and pick it up it an hour! Super easy and fun- but I warn you that this will be a new addiction- the possibilities are endless!!!
Merry Christmas- from my family to yours!
I love ScrapBlog! Cute card!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out really cute! I think photoshoped cards are great. They save time and look so professional, plus your family and friends would rather here from you with a computer generated card than not at all. I've also seen some cards that people attach their digital card to the front and then decorate the inside. That would be a quick way to personalize things a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteI went to ScrapBlog's sight, opened an account but it keeps taking me to a page to purchase stuff whenever I want to create something...is it not FREE anymore?
ReplyDeleteThat is too cute Steph! I'll have to check that site out! I can't get over how old your kids are!!! Sac town can't get here fast enough!!!
