Strut Your Stuff with Plaid

Every Thursday we get together to share our newest creations. It could be just about anything- a makeover, a project, artwork, a great recipe... I am not picky!  I am on the hunt for items to feature and people to guest blog on somewhat simple AND Crazy Domestic, so show me what you got!

Today's giveaway is a great prize from Plaid!
Plaid is the company that makes a ton of fantastic crafty supplies, such as:
Apple Barrel Paints, Folk Art Paints & Mod Podge!!!

Amy, from Mod Podge Rocks, recently teamed up with Plaid to offer various Plaid products to several crafty bloggers all over the US. This is what they sent me:

Mod Podge Professional Tool Set

I first saw a tool like this on Creative Juice quite a while ago. One of the projects they were doing was a decoupaged dresser and after applying their Mod Podge and paper, they used what they called a Brayer (sp?). They said the brayer was a special rolling tool that helped get the air bubbles out of your decoupage projects. Air Bubbles. I get air bubbles in every Mod Podge project that I do and I hate air bubbles! Seeing this easy roller idea gave me (and my projects) hope. I put "brayer" on my mental shopping list, but I completely forgot to check Michaels or Hobby Lobby for one everytime I was there.

So can you imagine my excitement when I got this tool set in the mail?! I actually got to work on a project right away just to see if it works!
(You will have to stay tuned for the project tutorial on this one! Its coming soon!)

What Plaid has to say about it:
This Mod Podge Professional Tool Set is essential for any decoupage crafter. The Brayer is used to smooth paper, fabric and other items onto a surface, providing the right amount of pressure to eliminate air bubbles and with no mess. The Squeegee is used to press paper, fabric and other items into hard-to-reach corners.

What I have to say about it:
As I finished applying the Mod Podge to my (secret) project, I thought to myself, "Here we go again" as there were air bubbles all over. But I am happy to announce my project is sitting here at my side BUBBLE FREE!!!
Tips:
1. Wait til your Mod Podge dries almost all the way before you use it! (Maybe even all they way- I was too impatient for this though!) I tried rolling over it seconds after the application and it tore my paper. When I waited just even a few minutes it made all the difference- no rips!
2. Keep rolling! I like a quick fix so in my mind, I pictured a few rolls over the surface should mean no more bubbles, and in some spots this was true but most of the areas needed a good amount of time spent rolling over it again and again. Maybe like 30 seconds or so.
3. Get one! That's all there is to it- I love this and can't believe I waited so long to get one!
