The Comfort of a Cupcake

A few months ago, some of our close friends were going through a bit of a rough patch. One night, our family decided to bring them some cupcakes just to let them know we were thinking of them. Here is the cute way we delivered them:

Here is how to do it:
  • Print out a note on your computer & mount it onto some heavy, decorative card stock that is folded in half.
  • Punch 5 holes on the top side of your note on both the left and right sides.Punch 2 holes in the center on the bottom.
  • Take ribbon, yarn or twine and cut it long enough to tie a bow and hang on a door knob.(You can trim it at the end if you have it too long.)
  • Start weaving your twine by taking one end down through the center/bottom hole and up through the lowest hole on the left side. Leave enough twine at the bottom of the card to tie a bow. Continue weaving the rest of the twine through all the holes on  the left side.
  • When you get to the top, leave several inches loose and then take the end of the twine down through the top hole on the right side. Continue weaving until you get to the bottom/center hole and come up through it.
  • Tie a bow with both ends of your twine. Trim any excess.
  • Place 10 mini cupcakes in 2 rows inside a plastic freezer bag. Take your bag of cupcakes and slide the top of it inside the folded card. You can trim the top of your plastic bag if it is too long  so that the card comes just above the cupcakes.
  • Staple the sides of your card making sure you are stapling the plastic bag to the card.
  • Hang on the door of your neighbors or friends!

  9. Looks great AND I'm with Rhiannon - my first thought was did you use icing so the frosting didn't smoosh all over the bag? Did you pop them in hte freezer to get the icing hard? Inquiring minds need to know - do tell! If I tried this it would look like a smooshed blog on a doorknob :-)

  10. Valley, the "recipe" is actually just store bought Pillsbury mix.

And for those wondering why they weren't all smooshed, the trick with the icing is to pop your icing (store bought or homemade) in the microwave for 10 or 15 seconds and then dip your cupcakes into it. Then add your sprinkles before it hardens so they stick. So easy!
