Just in case you haven't heard, we have a crazy fun challenge going on over at Crazy Domestic all month long. Katie P from Food, Wine, & Mod Podge is our special host and she is taking us through our closets encouraging us to purge the unworn or fall back in love with clothes we haven't tried on in a while. Read about all the details HERE and join the fun today!!!
Here is my update for week 1:
This week I simply went through my closet and dresser and rid the things I haven't worn in a long time, or things I knew I could live without. Look at this:
Holy cow, I had a lot of clothes I didn't wear anymore! My husband always teases me 'cause I will stand in my closet staring at all those clothes and then respond, "I have nothing to wear." When the truth is, I have nothing I want to wear!
I bagged them up right away (that way I am less likely to change my mind and rescue them) and they are off to find a better home!
This purging felt so great! I dare you to try it! Go now!
Wow!! great job!
ReplyDeleteno affiliation but a great re-sell site is Threads on facebook. It's free and I've seen some good items on there.
ReplyDeleteYou should keep that list for your taxes, it will make a difference! I have such a hard time giving close away now because I can think of so many repurpose projects, but I don't want to become a hoarder! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You did a great job. I really need to do that too as I still have something in there that I wore in college(about 10 years ago). It would go under my neat and tidy resolution. I will have to consider that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge. Can I start on my husband's side first LOL
ReplyDeletePaula
WOW Steph I'm impressed! What a huge impact that will be to your closet!!
ReplyDeleteNow that is what I call getting it done! My motto is one item in, one item out. Seems to work. Although, I see so many crafty ladies re-purpose t-shirts and jeans into so many cute things...but then I have a reality check and remember I don't ever get around to do that kind of stuff so I hesitantly get rid of them. Great job! Someone is going to be well clothed who gets those items.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is too funny - I just did the same thing (cuz we're moving) and then got online and realized that I inadvertently joined the challenge! :) Fun!
ReplyDeleteI did that last year when we moved into our new house. We had so many jeans. I just cut them all up and used them in a quilt for my sister. Unfortunately, using jean material for my first quilt wasn't the best idea. :) But it is a great way to use clothes I just won't ever use again.
ReplyDeleteI do that every season!! I usually take them down to the local resale shop and I have an account and get extra money.
ReplyDeleteI love purging thing I haven't worn in a very long time! Wearing out dated clothing just makes you look older too!
ReplyDeleteI REALLY need to do this.
ReplyDeleteWhen we found out the women's shelter near our church was short on women's clothing, it made it that much easier for me to go through my closet. I keep a box or bag right in my closet, so that as I am getting dressed each day, I continuously am evalutating my clothes and putting things in it.
ReplyDeletegreat job! just cleaned out the kids playroom. 2 garbage bags and 1 for the garage sale. and a whole box of little things to create with. Figure I would save them as the boys I am sure will have projects that will need dinosaurs or astronauts.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty good at keeping my closet purged. I could definitely get rid of some more but until I hit the lottery and can replace everything I think I'd better keep the rest!
ReplyDeleteWow! You got rid of more clothes than I even have. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWow! I know I really really should do this, too! For some strange reason I only end up wearing the same few clothes over and over again anyway. But then ... I always think well, I could use that one for making that ... or turn this one into a dress for my daughter ... or use this to make that ...
ReplyDeleteSo even if I DO sort out my clothes they kinda stay in the apartment anyway. Just not in my closet.
And we have a SMALL aparment. :-/
Big sigh!
this year i've done that each time i've changed seasons in the closet...i've purged both the clothes i've worn (well, the ones that weren't wore go!) and what is coming out as well...it feels so great to get rid of that stuff that just isn't used any more.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - the purging does wonders for the soul! I just did a whole master closet makeover a couple months ago, and it felt great to get rid of so much unnecessary stuff! Check it out; I'm in love. :)
