***APPROVAL UPDATE AT THE END OF THIS POST***
A year and a half ago when I started sharing my projects on somewhat simple, I wasn't expecting to make money, I simply wanted a place to share my creativity. But as more time went into to building and managing my site, I decided that I may as well enjoy every benefit of having a successful blog and take advantage of money making opportunities.
People ask me all the time how I have turned my hobby of blogging into a profitable website, so I thought I would do a short mini-series with some tips and ideas that you might find useful. I have joined ad networks, I opened up ad spots on my sidebar, I became an affiliate for certain companies and I became a representative for a couple marketing groups. I am definitely not a money-making expert, so if you have something to add related to the topics in this series, please leave your remarks in the comments section of each post- we can all help each other!
Today's topic I want to introduce is:
How to Become a Representative for Social Spark
Social Spark is a marketing group that connects bloggers with companies who are trying to promote their brands. If you have a blog (any kind of blog, not just a creative one) you can sign up for Social Spark. Once approved, Social Spark will notify you of any "leads" they think may be applicable to you and your blog. Each lead has different requirements and pays a different amount of money. You can choose to accept or decline the leads they send you- you are never required to participate in anything! I have had all kinds of opportunities offered to me, some that are applicable to my blog that my readers would enjoy, and some that are not applicable or ones that I simply dont have time for.
I would highly recommend you joining Social Spark and see what kinds of opportunities come your way. You really have nothing to lose... except potential profit!
If you sign up now, you will also be eligible for their referral program with incentives for every person you refer (including a trip to Hawaii!) - so what are you waiting for?!?
SIGN UP HERE!!!
UPDATE:
If you tried joining and weren't approved, here is what the people at Social Spark just sent me regarding the approval process:
"In order to be approved to the Marketplace a blog must be at least 90 days old with a minimum of 20 posts written within the 90 days prior to submission with no more than a 30 day gap in writing during that time. It should be comprised primarily of original content and be written in fluent English. We also look for a clean, easy to navigate layout. If a blog does not initially meet these Terms, they can usually be resubmitted once they have."
Ok, so that is what they are looking for!
And I forgot to mention that if you have a business (big or small) and you would like to connect with other bloggers, sign up with Social Spark and start getting your company promoted TODAY!

I like your poste and I will follow the next few posts. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how much you would suggest charging for an ad. post and also how long you are expected to keep them up for that fee.
Thanks Lorraine-
ReplyDeleteI will add a topic about paid advertisers for this series and hopefully answer your questions on the subject as best as I can. Thanks for reading!
Thanks for this tip, Steph. I'll definitely check them out as I'm trying to make more money online. I'm an SEO writer for other people and am trying to start making money for my own projects.
ReplyDeleteSince you asked for any helpful tips, I do have an SEO series on my blog: http://prairiepatch.blogspot.com/ . I have the articles linked in the upper right corner.
Just saw your name on the top 20 list!! Way to go! I so hope you win!! I'd love to hear more about why you use Social Spark. I haven't heard anything about it and I'd love to hear about some of the promotions you've used or if it's been worth your time.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing these great tips!! I signed up for social spark a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI used to use Pay Per Post and really liked it. The Social Spark doesn't seem to do as much for me. I just I just haven't found the "niche" there for me yet. I think I would rather get into doing product reviews for companies rather than the ads.
