Easy Tote

This is probably the first thing you would learn to do if you were to take a beginner's sewing class!
This tote is as easy as sewing a straight line!

Leah just had her first ballet and tap lesson last week and I needed something simple for her to keep her dance shoes in during her lessons. If I had more time, I would've added some more embellishments like some cute buttons or something, but when you have a nagging 3 year old at your side excited to see her "Dance Bag", you only have 5 minutes before the nag turns into a tantrum- which is good because this bag literally took minutes!
Here's How!

1. Get 2 pieces of fabric that are the same size. Mine happened to be rectangles, about 15-18 inches or so long.

2. Hem the top and bottom of each piece of fabric by folding it over twice and sewing  it

3. Pin your embellishments on. I cut an L out of felt and used a wide ribbon on the bottom. Again, minus the nagging 3 year old, this bag could've been cuter. Use your imagination...

4. Sew on your embellishments. You could also hot glue them if you and your sewing machine aren't great friends that day. I have those days with mine...

5. Pin your ribbons on for the handles.

6. Knot the ends of your ribbon and burn the edges so it doesn't fray. *I tried tying the knots after I had sewn the ribbon to the bad and it is possible, but much easier to do it beforehand.
7.  Sew your ribbons to the fabric- one handle for each piece of fabric.
8. Place both fabrics together, inside out, and sew up both sides.
 9. Turn fabric right-side out and youre done!
She's ready for dance!

  4. That is so fun and something a beginner like me could sew! I looked at your basket of bows, I wish I would have seen that before I made my version because your idea is cuter! That always happens to me haha!
