Welcome Sign

I know I am not the only one who gets solicitors at their home- you know, the ones who always come and ring your doorbell during nap time! I want to make a sign that says:
NOTICE TO ALL SOLICITORS:
DON'T EVEN BOTHER KNOCKING.
I WILL NOT BUY YOUR STUFF OR SIGN UP FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

Question: How do you tell them nicely that you don't need their alarm systems, you already have a pest control provider, your cell phone company works great and yes, you are locked into a contract, your water softener is fine, their petition doesn't effect you and none of those magazines are of any interest!?

Answer: You make one of these...

This sign needs to go outside like NOW! If my napping kids are woken up one more time by a solicitor, I think I am going to scream!

...unless of course they are wearing a Girl Scout Uniform and are asking me how many boxes of Samoas I would like this year. Those solicitors are always welcome. You know I can never pass up those cookies....

OH! And just because we are on the subject of welcome signs and Scouts, I thought I would show you what my Scouts made last week. The goal was to make an art project and then display it, so I bought some unfinished wood signs at Dollar Tree, the boys painted them orange and then put black vinyl on them. Here is how they turned out:

They are supposed to be a fun Halloween decoration, but in talking to a few moms at church yesterday, their boys have already hung them on their bedroom door and don't plan on taking them down any time soon! The boys got a kick making these, and hello, they were so easy! They liked that it looked all warm and inviting and then threatening at the end... how cute are they?!

Ok, thats all I have for this Monday Morning. See ya tomorrow!!!

  1. Mmmm...Samoas.

I like both of those cute signs, especially the orange one you did with your Scouts. Perfect for Halloween.

    Good luck with your solicitors!

  4. Cute signs. We get way to many people knocking on our door and waking up my kids. I really need one of these signs.

  7. Love your sign! It must be that time of year if we're both feeling the pain, huh? Lol - I don't want to do anything to keep those cute little girl scouts and their Thin Mints off my steps.

  8. This is a good idea but i am sure it will not stop all the knockers. I live in an apartment that says no Soliciting and they still come door to do. blah.

    Cute

  9. I found a door sign (I stuck it below the doorbell) that said "Day Sleeper". That's it. Worked like a charm. Every once in awhile, someone would ring the bell and would apologize, which was nice. But I was so glad to find this. And this was up for my husband because he worked nights. Now we are in a different area and he works days, but I think, if I find it in all our packed stuff, I'll put it up again anyway, since I take my own nap during the day. :)
